Carcassonne is a classic for a reason. You draw a tile and place it to build cities, roads, and fields. Then you decide if you want to place a worker on it. The rules take five minutes to explain. It starts off friendly but can get aggressive quickly. You can steal your neighbours cities if you place your tiles cleverly. It plays well at two players and scales up smoothly. There is a decent amount of luck involved with the tile draws. A staple that still holds up after years. Good for a relaxed evening with a coffee.
